Wilanow baroque palace in WarsawThe Masovian Voivodeship is the largest and most densely populated of the 16 Voivodeships that make up Poland, it is located in east-central area of the country and it home to the Polish Capital City of Warsaw, and as a result of this it is the wealthiest region in Poland. The landscape of the region is almost totally flat, with an abundance of forests and rivers, making it the perfect place for those who enjoy such outdoor activities as kayaking and cycling.

Warsaw itself has a wealth of green parks and gardens for the city dwellers to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life for a short while, and also has a rooftop garden on top of the university library, the perfect place for students to relax. Just a short journey out of Warsaw brings you to The Kampinoski Forest, cultivated to produce more fresh air for the capital and dispel carbon dioxide from the surrounding atmosphere. There are only 2 forests in the world grown this close to such a major city, the other is to be found in Nigeria.

The Masovian Voivodeship has over 150 bird species, attracted by the waters of the Vistula River, the biggest River in Poland, and the man-made Zegrzynski Bay, created after a Dam was built between the Narew and Bug Rivers is a hotspot for those looking to enjoy adrenaline rushing water sports, particularly windsurfing.

For those looking for a more relaxing break, quiet towns such as Plock and Szydlowiec are set into a tranquil landscape and have many manor buildings which are open to the viewing public.
