From 1st of May 2005 Poland is a member of European Union, all citizens of EU countries are entitled to move freely within the European Union/European Economic Area.  For stays exceeding 90 days, residence in Poland and work permts please check Polish Consulate or Embassy in your country.

Schengen Zone

From December 2007 Poland is a member of Schengen Zone, with no passport control at the borders beetween member countires. Countires in Schenegen Zone:

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.


Citizens of the following countries are not required to have VISA for stays not exceeding 90 days:

Albania (biometric passports), Andorra, Antigua Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina (biometric passports), Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao (Special Administrative Region), Macedonia (biometric passports), Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro (biometric passports), Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Saint Kitts and Nevis, San Marino, Serbia (biometric passports), Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan (passports which include an identity card number), United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay, Vatican (Holy See), Venezuela

As of 21 st of May 2005, refugees lawfully resident in the territory of Ireland, Liechtenstein, Romania and Switzerland, based on European Agreement on the Abolition of Visas for Refugees done at Strasbourg on 20 th of April 1959, are exempt from obligation to obtain visas for entering or leaving the territory of Poland, provided that they hold a valid travel document issued in accordance with the Convention on the Status of Refugees of 28 th of July 1951 or the Agreement relating to the issue of a travel document to refugees of 15 th of October 1946, by authorities of the Contracting Party in whose territory they are lawfully resident.

VISA Application Forms

The visa application has to be submitted together with 2 biometric photos,  a travel document and any other additional documents individually specified by the consul.

Schengen Statesissue the following types of uniform visas which entitle the holder to enter and stay in the Schengen territory:
  • airport transit visa (A) – valid only for airport transit, does not entitle the holder to leave the transit zone of the airport
  • short-stay visa (C) – valid for stays of no more than 90 days per period of 180 days
